Lunch with The Naked Chef (Jamie’s Italian) | Adelaide, South Australia

What better way to celebrate being back in Adelaide with our best friends and Penny the wunderkind, than to spend a lazy couple of hours sampling the food from Jamie’s Italian?

From indie chef with a penchant for nude food, to restaurant chain king pin and Woolworths ambassador. Some may question his integrity but for me it’s all about the food!

I loved the refreshing cosmopolitan buzz that greeted us as we stepped through the double glass doors. Vaulted ceilings towering above, sunlight streaming in through tall panes of glass, strings of garlic, herbs and tomatoes hanging above the bar (faux? real?); it felt alive!

The menu is well balanced; in some ways gently pushing boundaries, yet in others just as comfortable in its familiarity.

If the fantastic main menu wasn’t enough, the desserts on offer simply couldn’t be ignored!

The service throughout our meal was consistently attentive, providing that elusive balance between restraint and engagement that some venues find so hard to achieve. Considering the ever-changing wants and desires of a small child (as fleeting as the wind!) the passing staff also did a wonderful job of picking up the odd dropped toy without appearing slighted in the slightest!

Overall?

While Jamie’s Italian could never be accused of exploring new territories, it does provide delicious, wholesome food, in an environment just as suitable for a business lunch as it is for a catch up with old friends and family. It’s comfortable, it’s friendly, and it makes you smile. What more could you ask for?
