I think a momentary diversion from nude dudes is in order…
While up in the mountains in Hokkaido we were really keen to lay eyes on four native animals:
- Northern Pika
- Siberian Chipmunk
- Fox
- Bear (but not up close!)
Unfortunately (fortunately?) we didn’t come across any bears or foxes, but one day while hiking up to Mt Kurodake we were lucky enough to come across both a pika and a chipmunk!
The pika is actually the animal on which Pikachu was modelled (I think the ‘chu’ was supposed to represent the noise they make??).
