It’s been far too long between proverbial drinks.
Feast with your eyes on Pilgrim’s breakfast bounty…
My pick of the dishes was the spring peas (of all things!). A sublime balance in textures, flavours and temperatures that is rarely encountered anywhere these days. Gorgeous presentation as well.
It didn’t take long to realise that this was the perfect hangover cure! It was my first taste of alpaca and I’m a convert. Ever so tender and very delicate in flavour, yet hearty at the same time. Together with the pickled and fried vegetables I could feel my headache dissipating at speed! (or perhaps that was the espresso I’d just finished off?)
Yummo! Who doesn’t love waffles? On their own the ingredients didn’t wow me, but pull them all together and the dish came to life!
Comparisons to Maccas is not normally a good thing, but in this instance the French toast revived some great childhood memories of hotcakes at the Golden Arches…x1000! The bacon was crisp and crunchy in all the right places, and the thick toast battered and fried to perfection. Again, serious hangover curing material right there!
I’ve waxed lyrical regarding the total Pilgrim experience in a previous blog entry that you can find here. I do recommend that you have a read.
It is such a relief, and joy, to find that Christian, Will, Heiki and the team continue to set the breakfast standard in Hobart with fresh, quality Tasmanian produce, cooked with skill and precision, and immaculate presentation.
